Foyle College & Ebrington PS

This project consisted of a new build, amalgamating two schools which were previously spread across separate sites in the city of Derry; Foyle College and Ebrington Primary & Nursery School. The schools were constructed using a phased approach.

The first phase; the primary school and energy centre was completed in September 2016. The school includes a 14-class base, housing 650 people with two Learning Difficulties/ Speech & Language Units and a double nursery. The second phase – new Foyle College – was completed in 2017 and comprises of a new build for 850 pupils. The High-tech education facilities provide 16,400m² of new teaching accommodation, grass pitches, synthetic tennis courts and a 3G pitch.

Michael Nugent provided the full mechanical installation for this project including incoming mains water service, natural gas, LPHW including radiators & underfloor heating served from 2.8 MW gas boilers. Also; soils & wastes, hot & cold water public health plumbing, sanitary ware, rainwater recycling, solar water heating, specialist systems including compressed air, and a fully automated Building Management System.

These services enhance the learning experience and ensure that both schools are well equipped to deliver the curriculum for now and for future generations to come.
