Charlton Park Academy

Charlton Park Academy secondary school located in Charlton Village Conservation Area, London has underwent a £7.5m  redevelopment including demolishing the existing school for the new build two-storey block. The existing school buildings were originally parts of the 1967 school; therefore, the upgrade was much needed to reform the building to an Education Needs and Disability facility with modern facilities.

The new secondary school is a state-of-the-art building with excellent facilities for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Charlton Park Academy teach 212 pupils, aged 11-18, with severe Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) needs. The school is now able to support all young people, parents/carers to help develop and transform their lives along with fulfilling their dreams.

Michael Nugent Ltd were responsible for the mechanical and electrical elements of the project including; fully-automated BEMS systems, LTHW heating system comprising 2nr Gas fired boilers serving radiators and ceiling radiant panels, domestic water generation and distribution systems, fully controlled AC, including “Hydrobox” heat recovery, extract and heat MVHR ventilation, disabled refuge system, uninterrupted power supply system and dual electric vehicle charging points.

Working in conjunction with main contractor Farrans Construction, Michael Nugent Ltd have provided the mechanical and electrical services of phase one for this remarkable project.
