Strong Progress at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children
Works on the new MRI suite at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children are moving forward with speed.
Michael Nugent was appointed by the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust to fit mechanical installations to the new facility, which will be completed and ready for hand over in the coming weeks.
The new suite will be the first of its kind in the hospital, where children in need of MRI services were previously transferred to radiology departments in the Royal Victoria Hospital. Now, the hospital will be able to provide scans for patients in a familiar environment, with staff trained specifically to care for children.
RBHSC is the only dedicated children’s hospital in Northern Ireland. Providing general treatment for children in Belfast and specialised paediatric services for those across the Province, it has 107 bed spaces and treats up to 33,000 in its emergency department each year.
The new MRI facility will enable the RBHSC to provide even better paediatric care for their young patients. Michael Nugent has been delighted to be involved in the project and we’re looking forward to seeing the facility complete.
