Progress at Newry Leisure Centre
Our project at the new Newry Leisure Centre is coming along well, with the swimming pools due to be filled in this week.
Works are progressing well on our project at Newry Leisure Centre. The new multi-purpose sports centre in Co. Down is on its way to being opened, with the swimming pools being filled within the next few days.
Michael Nugent has been supplying a full mechanical installation at the new build, delivering high quality, modern solutions for this impressive leisure facility.
Once complete, the three-story building will provide a 25m, eight-lane swimming pool with a moving floor, learner’s pool and leisure pool with a flume. There will also be a spectator area for 200 people and a range of male, female and accessible changing areas; as well as a sauna and steam room.
All aspects of the building’s services have been designed to meet the goals set out for Newry’s 2020 Low Carbon City targets. Michael Nugent has therefore selected the most environmentally friendly mechanical installations to ensure a high level of energy efficiency.
With tailor-made accessible sports areas, the centre will also meet the criteria for the ‘Disability Sports Northern Ireland’s Inclusive Sports Facility’ accreditation.
Newry Leisure Centre is set to be an ideal space for recreational and competitive swimming, as well as an innovative facility for all kinds of sport and fitness. We’ve been delighted to be part of the project and look forward to seeing the end result.
