Michael Nugent Completes St Mary’s Primary School
Our works at St Mary’s Primary School in Larkhall have been completed and handed over, ready to re-opened in the coming weeks
Pupils at St Mary’s Primary School in Larkhall, South Lanarkshire, will soon be settling into new premises as we complete our project on the recently renovated building. The semi-rural Scottish school will be handed over and re-opened in the coming weeks.
With the refurbishment of the school’s original listed building and the construction of a new two-story extension – the development will offer exciting state-of-the-art facilities for the school’s pupils and staff.
Michael Nugent provided full mechanical installation on the project, supplying all heating, plumbing, pubic health and sanitary provisions. We also fitted natural gas supplies and fully automated BEMS wiring.
The scheme was launched following the partial loss of the school’s building in a fire in 2012, in which gas leakages caused a detrimental explosion in the sewage system. While the listed section of the site remained unharmed, severe damage was inflicted to the school’s most recent buildings, inevitably resulting in their closure.
Our mechanical solution therefore included a first-rate fire-sprinkler system. We were keen to ensure safety was at the forefront of our design to prevent future disaster in the facility.
Yet despite the difficulties faced by St Mary’s Primary School, the staff promotes a sense of positivity among pupils, encouraging a ‘happy family’ atmosphere through mutual respect for others. Teachers create a caring and friendly environment, progressing children as needs dictate.
Michael Nugent is proud to have worked on this special project. The works will enable St Mary’s staff to continue providing the best facilities for their pupils and we wish them all the best for the future.
