Our team is delighted to be taking on a new project at the Banbridge Health and Care Centre

Michael Nugent Ltd has been awarded the mechanical services contract for the new Health and Care Centre in Banbridge. The project will involve the full mechanical fit out of this £16m building, which is currently in the first stages of construction in the Banbridge Community Health Village.

This multi-purpose centre will be an efficient and innovative building, combining a range of health services to cater for the community of Banbridge and the surrounding area. From adult day care and community outpatient departments to therapy services for children, young people and mental health patients, the centre will be an important addition to the district’s current healthcare provision.

Health Minister Edwin Poots visited the official opening of the worksite. He said: “This new Health and Care Centre will provide a range of accessible, integrated services, dramatically improving health and care within the Banbridge community.”

He explained that the delivery of care closer to people’s homes is of prime concern for the health sector and the reduction of hospitalisation, the improvement of chronic disease management and early diagnosis is also vital. He noted the centre would help reach these targets and encourage the people of Banbridge to live healthy, independent lifestyles.

To achieve this, the centre will be equipped with outstanding facilities to meet the needs of each patient including a rehabilitation suite; sensory rooms; two dental clinics; health promotion programmes; specialist nursing services and a landscaped garden with wheelchair access.

The Health and Care Centre will also act as an administrative hub for the Trust and will be managed by up to 220 staff, so an expansive office space will be incorporated into the design. Kennedy Fitzgerald Architects have carefully planned this over four split-level storeys, providing space for all the services required of the centre’s visitors in a fresh and modern building.

Banbridge Community Health Village first opened in 2005 and is comprised of a GP surgery, ambulance station and living facilities for those affected with dementia and physical disabilities. The Health and Care Centre, which is due to be completed in August 2015, will complete the development of the Village.

We’re very proud to be taking on this project that will greatly enhance the level of health care and outpatient services in the Banbridge area.
